Take some time to get settled into your room and recharge after your journey.

Once you’re refreshed, the afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace. Maybe take a stroll around the local area to soak up the energy of Tokyo. You might stumble upon a small shrine, a cosy cafe, or a convenience store stocked with unique Japanese snacks—it’s all part of the charm.

As the sun sets, we’ll gather together for a Welcome Dinner. This is your chance to meet your fellow travellers, share some laughs, and start to feel the camaraderie of the group. Over a delicious meal, you’ll get a taste of Japanese cuisine and hear a little more about what’s in store for the days ahead. It’s the perfect way to ease into your Japanese adventure.

Both options are perfect for starting your journey with something unforgettable.

Day 2: A Deep Dive into Tokyo’s Culture

Today is all about immersing yourself in the essence of Tokyo, starting with its lively and delicious side. We’ll kick off the day at the Tsukiji Outer Market, a haven for food lovers. Picture bustling stalls piled high with fresh seafood, steaming street food stands, and the rich aroma of grilled delicacies wafting through the air. Take your time to sample local favourites, like sushi so fresh it practically melts in your mouth, or crispy tempura skewers made to order.

Next, we’ll step into history with a visit to Asakusa, one of Tokyo’s oldest and most iconic districts. At its heart is the stunning Senso-ji Temple, a Buddhist temple with roots stretching back to the 7th century. You’ll approach the temple via Nakamise Street, a lively shopping avenue lined with stalls selling traditional snacks, souvenirs, and handmade crafts.

In the afternoon, we’ll explore Ueno, a neighbourhood that offers a bit of everything. Take a leisurely walk through the expansive Ueno Park, a green oasis in the middle of the city. If you’re in the mood for shopping or snacking, that’s perfect. We’ll head to Ameyoko Market, a bustling street where you can find everything from fresh fruit to quirky fashion. To end the day, we’ll visit Akihabara, Tokyo’s energetic hub for anime, manga, and gaming. This centuries-old craft, known as “aizome,” is both relaxing and rewarding, and you’ll leave with your own handmade item as a keepsake.
