What is PokéPark Kanto?

PokéPark Kanto is the world’s first ever permanent Pokémon theme park that’s opening on February 5th 2026. If you’re a Pokémon Trainer (or just a fan), you’ll get the chance to experience a real-life Pokémon adventure, complete with its Pokémon Center, Pokémon-themed rides, and the mystical Pokémon Forest. Plus, we can’t forget to mention the special-edition merch only available at the park.
Whilst you absolutely should be getting excited for the array of magical Poké-themed attractions, let’s first be clear about what PokéPark Kanto is (and is not). Similar to the Ghibli Park, this isn’t a full-on theme park with crazy rollercoasters and countless rides. It’s more like the individual “lands” you’ll find at those theme parks, e.g., the Super Mario World at Universal in Osaka. In other words, there are a couple of rides, but the main attraction is the overall immersion in the Pokémon world.
So, if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, this probably isn’t the theme park for you. However, if you want amazing photo opportunities, child-friendly attractions, and Pokémon-themed experiences that just don’t exist anywhere else in the world, then we think you should look into getting some PokéPark Kanto tickets asap!
PokéPark Kanto Attractions

So, what are the attractions at PokéPark Kanto? The main event is the Pokémon Forest, an enchanting woodland area where you can see Pokémon in the wild. It’s about half a kilometre of space designed for exploring to your heart’s content and filled with magical surprises and cute interactive opportunities.
Just to note, there as this is a real woodland area with uneven paths, trees, and about 110 steps. If you are unable to walk around this type of terrain unassisted, then you won’t be able to enjoy the forest. Children under 5 are also not permitted to enter the Pokémon Forest (even with a guardian), but are allowed in other areas of the park.
On the other side of PokéPark Kanto is Sedge Town. In this area, you’ll find some extremely cool buildings, like the IRL Pokémon Center and Poké Mart. These are where you can peruse the special-edition merch, snacks, and some pretty cool surprises straight out of the game, e.g., seeing Chansey or using the Healing Machine.
Also in Sedge Town are PokéPark Kanto’s two rides. Firstly, there’s Pika Pika Paradise, which lets you ride your very own Pikachu into the sky. Then, there’s the Vee Vee Voyage, an Eevee-themed carousel. We do want to point out that unless you have the Ace Trainer’s Pass, you’ll need to buy separate tickets for both of these rides, which cost ¥1,200 for adults, or ¥800 for kids.
Dotted around the park are a few special areas that require specific limited-access tickets (more on this below). This includes the Pokémon Daisuki Shop, where you can get ultra-limited-edition merch, and the shows/meet-and-greets at Pokémon Playhouse and Sedge Gym.
How to Get Tickets to PokéPark Kanto?
PokéPark Kanto officially opens on Feb 5th 2026, but getting a ticket isn’t as simple as just turning up. The first wave of tickets for visiting between Feb 5th and March 22nd was already released (and sold out) via a lottery system in November 2025.
However, if you’re hoping to visit during that period, then don’t worry! Another wave of tickets for Feb and March is due to be released on January 22nd at 6pm JST. These will be first-come, first-served and sold through the website. We suspect these tickets will sell out almost instantly, so if you’re hoping to get some, we recommend being ready way in advance.
After this, the release schedule will be changing to a 2-month-in-advance system. Tickets for the following 2 months will go on sale on the last day of the month before, e.g.:
- Tickets for March 28th to April 27th will go on sale on February 28th at 6pm JST
- Tickets for April 28th to May 30th will go on sale on March 31st at 6pm JST
- Tickets for May 31st to June 30th will go on sale on April 30th at 6pm JST
According to PokéPark Kanto’s latest update, the tickets will be allocated via a lottery-system on the website, but there will also be some first-come, first-served tickets available. Please note that you will need a Japanese phone number and address for the first-come, first-served tickets (why not get in touch for help booking and planning your Japan trip).

PokéPark Ticket Types
As getting hold of tickets is likely going to be a competitive (and potentially stressful) experience, we recommend knowing exactly what you want to purchase before the tickets go on sale. There are three different types of PokéPark Kanto admission tickets, as well as extra limited-access tickets that you might want to get after you enter the park itself.
The park is planning to use dynamic pricing, meaning the cost will change depending on demand, but as of right now, this is the pricing breakdown for adults (aged 13+):
- Ace Trainer’s Pass: ¥14,000 to ¥16,500 (~$89 to $105 USD)
- Trainer’s Pass: ¥7,900 to ¥9,400 (~$50 to $60 USD)
- Town Pass: ¥4,700 to ¥5,500 (~$30 to $35 USD)
We should also mention that all PokéPark Kanto tickets also give you access to Yomiuriland Amusement Park, within which PokéPark Kanto is located.
Ace Trainer’s Pass
This is the “access-all-areas” ticket. Not only do you have re-entry access to Sedge town and the Pokémon Forest, but this is also the only ticket option to get into the Sedge Condominiums, where you can join character meet-and-greets and get photos with Pikachu and Eevee.
As extra perks, the Ace Trainer’s Pass comes with a reserved seat in the special seating area for the Sedge Gym Show, and one free priority pass for each of the Pika Pika Paradise and Vee Vee Voyage. You’re also promised some original merch, although what exactly this is isn’t specified.
Trainer’s Pass
The Trainer’s Pass is more of a general admission ticket. You’ll be able to get into all areas except the Sedge Condominiums, but you should note you don’t get re-entry to the Pokémon Forest, meaning once you leave that area, you can’t go back. For Pika Pika Paradise and Vee Vee Voyage, you’ll need to purchase separate tickets at the kiosk.
Town Pass (coming summer 2026)
This new type of ticket isn’t available just yet, but it will be a cheaper option for anyone happy to skip the Pokémon Forest. You’ll get timed entry to Sedge Town and all its attractions (except the Condominiums), as well as the option to get a limited-access ticket to shows and the Pokémon Daisuki Shop, but you won’t be allowed into the Pokémon Forest.
Limited-Access Tickets
If you’ve never been to a Japanese theme park before, you might be a little confused about the limited-access tickets. Essentially, they’re how you get into certain attractions, e.g., the shows, meet-and-greets, and Pokémon Daisuki Shop.
You can book your time slot ticket using the PokéPark Kanto app, but only after you have physically entered the actual park. If getting one of these slots is important to you, we highly recommend arriving early to PokéPark Kanto and immediately opening the app to snag one the moment you pass through the ticket gates.
Where is PokéPark Kanto (And How to Get There)?

As we mentioned, PokéPark Kanto is located within Yomiuriland, Tokyo’s largest amusement park filled with rides, swimming pools, and attractions. It’s really beloved by families (especially those with younger kids), and as entrance is included in your PokéPark Kanto ticket, you might as well spend a little time exploring. Rides cost between ¥300 and ¥1,200, but there’s lots to do free of charge too.
How to Get to PokéPark Kanto

Yomiuriland and PokéPark Kanto are technically in Tokyo, but they’re not in the city centre or one of Tokyo’s special 23 wards. You’ll find the park located just west of the city centre, on the border to Kanagawa in Tama Ward. Don’t worry, though, it doesn’t take too long by train to get there, as it is only about an hour from Shinjuku.
The easiest way to get to PokéPark Kanto is to take the Keio Line or Keio New Line from Shinjuku Station to Keio Yomiuriland Station (about 25 minutes). From there, you can either ride the Yomiuriland shuttle bus (¥300 one way) or catch the Yomi 01 bus, which is slightly cheaper and takes slightly longer.
How to Plan For Your Trip to PokéPark Kanto?

Lucky enough to secure your PokéPark Kanto tickets? Amazing! Now, it’s time to plan for a seamless and perfect day at the Pokémon theme park.
Before the Day
First things first, you need to have the PokéPark Kanto app downloaded before you arrive. This means you’ll be ready to hit the ground running with getting those limited-access tickets, as well as having the map and all the park information right at your fingertips.
You’ll also want to take a quick look over the rules before leaving for the park. You are not allowed to bring in any outside food or drink (including anything bought at Yomiuriland), unless you have small children with dietary restrictions. Other things that you cannot bring into PokéPark Kanto are suitcases, selfie sticks, tripods, and drones.
A few things you will want to bring are comfortable walking shoes and clothes that you can wear on the rides. The park is also cashless, so make sure you have a way to pay, like a credit card or PayPay.
PokéPark Kanto’s opening hours will vary day-to-day, so make you check in advance so you know what time to arrive.
When to Arrive
The park hours are allegedly going to vary, but for most days, you can expect PokéPark Kanto to be open from 10am to 6pm. Now, one thing to know about Japanese businesses is that the “opening times” are often not actually the real opening times. Aka, on our last visit to Universal Studios Osaka, it was meant to open at 9am, but we were inside by 7:45.
As this is a new and much-anticipated attraction in Tokyo, we recommend trying to go early. To guarantee your choice of limited-access tickets, you might want to be ready to go inside from 9am (or earlier), at least for the first few weeks. If you aren’t as worried about getting Gym Show and Daisuki Shop slots, then arriving later on in the day shouldn’t be an issue.
Food and Drink
PokéPark Kanto hasn’t announced its food line-up yet, but as you’re not allowed to bring in outside snacks, we’re guessing there will be some options within the park. We know for sure that there are speciality Pokémon drinks at the Poké Mart, but otherwise, watch this space! There are also plenty of food vendors located outside of PokéPark Kanto in Yomiuriland.
After the Park
Once you finish adventuring in Sedge Town and the Pokémon Forest, we do recommend ending the day by exploring everything that Yomiuriland has to offer. Here, you can get your fix of exhilarating rides, cool off in the pools during summer, or wander around the famous winter illumination during the colder months.
How to Complete Your Pokémon Tokyo Trip…

It should go without saying, but PokéPark Kanto is far from the only Pokémon-themed thing you can do in Tokyo. To start with, there are lots of other Pokémon Centers dotted across the city, each with its own special-edition merch, and the most famous being located in the Shibuya Parco Building.
Other ways to complete your Pokémon-themed trip are:
- Win your favourite Pokémon in plushy form from a claw machine
- Visit the Pokémon Cafe in Nihonbashi
- Pose with the giant Mewtwo statue in Shibuya
- Browse vintage Pokémon cards & retro games in Akihabara
- Attend Pokémon Go Fest in Tokyo during summer 2026
