What do our guests say

Kyoto is a city where the route matters. Many travellers come here expecting quiet temples and peaceful streets…and then quickly realise just how much there is to see, how spread out everything is, and how busy the major sights can get. On our Ultimate Kyoto tour, leave the routes, transfers, and timing to your local guide and experience the city’s must-see sights in a smoother, more meaningful way.

After meeting up with your guide, start at the shrine known for seemingly endless rows of bright vermilion torii gates. At Fushimi Inari, your guide can help explain the meaning behind the shrine, set the pace, and show you how far to go depending on the day’s timing and crowds.

From there, continue towards Kiyomizu-dera, one of Kyoto’s most important temples. The approach is part of the experience, with sloping streets, old wooden shopfronts, local sweets, ceramics, incense, and small stores tucked along the way. Once at the temple, the famous wooden stage opens out over the city, giving you a wide view of Kyoto’s rooftops, hills, and seasonal colours.

After that, you can stroll through Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, two of Kyoto’s most charming preserved streets. This is the classic Kyoto many travellers imagine before arriving: stone steps, tiled roofs, traditional buildings, teahouses, and little shops selling crafts and snacks. With your guide leading the way, you can slow down, avoid the most crowded flow where possible, and notice the  small details that are easy to miss when you are navigating alone.

The day draws to a close after exploring Yasaka Shrine and Gion, where Kyoto’s traditional atmosphere lingers in lantern-lit streets, wooden facades, and quiet corners just off the main roads. In Gion, your guide can share more about the area’s history and culture before helping you find a place to continue your evening after parting ways.

In just 6 hours, you will have explored some of Kyoto’s most famous sights while also getting a deeper sense of the city’s history, atmosphere, and local charm, making memories that will last for a lifetime.
