On our Ultimate Tokyo tour, you can experience the city’s major highlights without spending the whole time figuring out how to get from A to B. Paired with a friendly local guide for the day, you can focus on enjoying what you actually want to see and be introduced to a few local gems as well.
After meeting up with your guide, start in one of Tokyo’s most historic neighbourhoods: Asakusa. As you explore Senso-ji Temple, revel in the atmosphere: the wafting aroma of temple incense, the clacking of fortunes being drawn from wooden boxes, and the throngs of people making their way down lively shopping streets. If time allows, we can also include Ueno and catch a more everyday side of the city while enjoying park paths, museums, and the busy Ameyoko market streets.
Continuing on towards Meiji Jingu and Harajuku, experience a new side of the capital city. With tall trees and wide gravel paths, the peaceful atmosphere of Meiji Jingu feels like a quiet forest retreat hidden in the middle of the city. Just a skip away, Harajuku showcases Tokyo’s playful side: streets full of fashionistas, colourful sweets, vintage shops, stylish cafes, and backstreets full of personality.
In Shibuya, modern Tokyo is going at full speed. At the famous Shibuya Scramble, take in one of the city’s most iconic scenes as you watch the crowds move in every direction, making their way to whatever their day holds next. Your guide can help you find the best angles for a pic, explain more about the area, and point out places you may want to come back to if you have more time later.
To end the day, we head to the neighbourhood of neon lights, tall buildings and narrow alleys. In Shinjuku, there are countless places to eat and drink so you can pick one to enjoy after parting ways with your guide and before returning to your accommodation.
