Gotokuji Temple in Setagaya Ward is a historic Buddhist temple known for its association with the Maneki-neko or beckoning cat figurine. These cats are considered a huge symbol of good luck and prosperity in Japanese culture! The grounds are dotted with thousands of maneki-neko statues donated by visitors seeking blessings of good fortune. They vary in size and colour but all depict a cat raising one paw.
