On May 29th, Japan's House of Councillors officially passed a bill approving JESTA (Japan Electronic System for Travel). It means that short-term travellers will need to apply for approval to enter Japan in advance, instead of when they actually enter the country (like the current system).If you have an upcoming trip to Japan, don't worry! Nothing is changing immediately, and you don't need to apply for a JESTA just yet. The Tokyo Candle Night is happening this Friday at Zojoji Temple.
