The temple was said to have been founded in 1353 during the Bunwa era. It is one of the most famous temples in the Rinsai sector. During the Meji era, a royal villa was set up in the temple and the imperial family visited the Fusaiji Temple often. However, in 1995 the temple was arsoned and most of the temple was burned down. As a result, a ‘Fusaiji Temple Reconstruction Committee was created and now we are left with how the temple stands today. There are annual events that take place at this temple, there is a timetable on the website so if you are in the area be sure to check out if there are any special occasions!
