Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, so the 30th, 31st and the weekend before are all fair game. Below are the Halloween parties in Japan we’d point a friend to this year, from techno basements in Tokyo to a free-in-costume club night in Osaka’s Amerikamura. Tips Before You Head to Halloween Parties in Japan
- Bring a physical photo ID. Clubs check ID at the door, and some are strict about it. VENT, for example, only admits over-20s and won’t accept photos or copies of your ID. Tourists should bring their passport.
- Buy advance tickets where you can. They’re often cheaper, and some come with priority entry, which is seriously useful for weekends when the line can take over an hour.
- Know what “+1D” means. You’ll see it on a lot of Japanese event listings. It’s a one-drink charge paid at the door on top of your ticket.
- Don’t drink on the street in Shibuya. The city bans drinking on streets and in parks around Shibuya Station from 18:00 to 5:00 all year round, Halloween included.
- Plan your ride home. Many of the club nights below run until around 05:00, so either leave before the last train or settle in for the first one. Taxis add a late-night charge, so they can be expensive, plus hard to find past 2:00 in nightlife areas.
- Get your costume early. Don Quijote stocks a big Halloween section from September, and Okadaya in Shinjuku is where serious cosplayers go for wigs, fabric, and special-effects makeup.
- Check for changing rooms. Some events provide them (Ame-mura Halloween Night has rooms for men and women), while others don’t.
Halloween Parties in Tokyo

Back From The Grave: Halloween Ball (Shinjuku)
If your idea of a good Halloween involves live music rather than a DJ, this is the one for you. Back From The Grave’s annual Halloween Ball takes over Shinjuku LOFT, a basement live house in Kabukicho, for two full days of garage rock and rock ‘n’ roll.
The 2026 lineup: Guitar Wolf and Jet Boys play on Sunday, and there are bands from Australia, the US, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, and Mexico. Doors open at noon, so you can do this one without staying up until sunrise.

Tokyo Decadance Halloween (Shibuya)
Tokyo Decadance has been running since 2005 and is known for drawing Tokyo’s more colourful subcultures: goths, cyberpunks, lolitas, gyaru. Past Halloween editions have featured burlesque, drag, rope performances, and costume discounts tiered by how much effort you’ve made. This year it’s in S NIGHTCLUB, on the seventh floor of MAGNET by SHIBUYA109, which connects directly to Shibuya Station and looks out over the Scramble Crossing.

Shimokita Halloween ’26 (Shimokitazawa)
Shimokitazawa is packed with small live music venues, and this all-nighter from organiser ANGURA takes over two of them: Basement Bar and THREE, which share a basement on Chazawa-dori. You’re free to wander between the two all night. Eight live acts cover dance music, rock ‘n’ roll, hip-hop, punk, and electronica, including LBSTR, QUINCAMPOIX, KIKIAIAI, and The Yeahs, while the DJs include KAHORI of Wang Dang Doodle, SPOT, and TOMMY(BOY). Costumes are encouraged.

SHAPE × MIND OFF Halloween at VENT (Omotesando)
This Minami-Aoyama basement club is known for its sound system, and this annual party from VENT’s Shape and Mind Off crews brings in Takaaki Itoh, a defining name in Japanese underground techno who has played more than 200 cities in 20 countries. Drunken Kong and Dani Savant go back-to-back in Room 1, with Jun, Rinalucky, Waka Xinxi, and Yuri Valen in Room 2.
VENT’s sound and lighting system are absolutely insane, and probably the only club you’ll catch me at these days. But note that the no-photos rule is strictly enforced, which could be a bummer if you’re trying to get costume photos.

ZEROTOKYO Halloween “Crazy Party Night” (Shinjuku)
ZEROTOKYO fills the basement floors of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower and is one of the biggest clubs in the city. Its Halloween Day 1 party, “Crazy Party Night”, is supported by Veuve Clicquot and takes place in the B4 Z Hall. The line-up and prices haven’t been announced yet, so keep an eye on the event page.
The club itself is well organised and very large, spanning several floors with multiple bars and dance floors. The crowd changes a lot depending on the night’s genre, so check who’s playing before you go.

Zouk Tokyo Halloween (Ginza)
Ginza’s Zouk Tokyo is running Halloween nights on both 30 and 31 October. Details are thin for now, but the dates and 22:00 door time are confirmed, and VIP tables can be booked through LINE or WhatsApp.

Metropolis Halloween Party: Yokai Nights (Roppongi)
English-language magazine Metropolis hosts its annual Halloween party with Monique & Miya, and this year’s theme draws on Japanese folklore and yokai (supernatural creatures). There are DJ sets from DJ Heat, dance performances, and a costume contest judged on creativity and effort, with a top prize of two nights in a Deluxe Suite at Hilton Okinawa Sesoko Resort. It runs from 18:00 to 23:00, so it’s a good pick if you’d rather be home before the last train.

Koenji Cave Halloween Party 2026 (Koenji)
For a smaller, more local night, Koenji Cave is a basement DJ bar three minutes’ walk from Koenji Station’s south exit, with a focus on techno and psytrance. Its Halloween party doubles as a birthday celebration for Cave’s MOMO, who was born on Halloween, and the organisers are asking everyone to come in costume.

Halloween Parties in Osaka
In Osaka, Halloween centres on Amerikamura (Ame-mura to locals), especially around Triangle Park in Shinsaibashi. All four of the parties below are within walking distance of each other.
Ame-mura Halloween Night
If you’re dressing up anyway, this is excellent value: anyone in costume gets in free, and you just pay for a drink. Known on social media as #アメハロナイト, it takes over two clubs, DROP and BEYOND, in the same building beside Triangle Park, and you can move freely between them. The music is anime songs, rock, J-pop, and cosplay favourites, with a line-up that includes LINDA of GRINDCIRCUS and DJ Disneyland, who plays only Disney tracks.

WhyNot!? International Halloween Party at CRAZY LAND by CHEVAL
WhyNot!? JAPAN runs international exchange parties around Kansai, and Halloween is its annual big one, with more than 300 international and Japanese guests expected. It’s a good pick if you’re travelling solo or want an earlier night.
All-you-can-drink is included, and there’s a costume contest around 19:00 with a ¥10,000 travel voucher for the winner. Staff choose contest entrants on the night from the most creative costumes, so arrive early if you want a shot.

Halloween Party at 3eBAR Shinsaibashi
This one is a Japanese-style social mixer rather than a club night. Expect around 100 guests, mostly in their mid-20s to mid-30s, with food, free-flowing drinks, a DJ kept at chatting volume, and staff-led shuffle times so you end up talking to new people. Organisers say six or seven in 10 guests usually come in costume, and plenty come on their own. Booking is in Japanese through the organisers’ LINE accounts, and prices differ for men and women.

Halloween Parties in Kyoto
KITSUNE KYOTO
Kyoto’s biggest club usually throws a Halloween party, but the dates haven’t been announced yet. For reference, in 2023 women in full costume got in free with a free shot, and men in full costume got a free shot (no free entry). The club has two floors in a building on Kiyamachi, about a four-minute walk from Sanjo Station.
It tends to be a mix of locals and tourists, which is nice, but drinks can be pricey. If you go on a weekend, get there early to beat the queue.

Halloween Parties in Fukuoka
International Halloween Party at THE ALLDAY ORTO (Hakata)
Run by the international community group 101 Hakatamingle together with Yuki Group, this party draws around 100 people every year and is built around mixing international and Japanese guests, with games and plenty of chatting. Reserve beforehand, as guests without a reservation may be turned away if it fills up.

GROW is a recurring party in Fukuoka, and for Halloween it’s bringing all of its DJs together for one special night: ADI, MIRA, NAGISA, RIM, Hayami, SHINDOh, SHIU, OTO, and SENA. It takes place on the Friday before Halloween at Happy Cock, a long-running club in Daimyo that opened in 1995.

Small World bills this as Nagoya’s best Halloween event, and the 2026 programme is packed. In Club MAGO, South Korean DJs Silly Silky and yunji from Foreign Body headline alongside 12 Nagoya-based DJs. Next door in Live & Lounge VIO, there’s full-band live karaoke from Super Karaoke Brothers, a shibari show from SM Show Bar The H, a dance showcase with 14 groups, and the Pop Up Palooza crew taking over from 1:00.

Is the Shibuya Halloween street party still happening?
There has never been an official organiser, and Shibuya Ward has asked people not to come to the station area for Halloween in recent years. Drinking on the street and in parks around Shibuya Station is banned from 18:00 to 5:00 year-round, so if you want to celebrate in Shibuya, head indoors to a club or bar.
Do I have to wear a costume?
