A cafe during the day and a bar at night? #genius. Cafe and Bar R is tucked away on the east side of Shibuya, a short walk from the station.
Expect a comfortable, homey feel that’s still edgy enough so you can justify drinking to your heart’s content whether it’s at lunchtime or after dark. They have a large collection of alcohol that includes a variety of liquors and wines from Japan and overseas. The last time we went was at around teatime – we couldn’t decide whether we needed a pick-me-up or something boozy, so we chose both! The staff were more than happy to create a delicious Irish Coffee for us even though it’s not on the menu. They even brought the whisky in a separate little cup so that we could mix it to our desired strength. Now, that’s service!
You could easily spend a whole afternoon or evening here relaxing on the comfy sofas, solo or with friends. They always have a movie showing on the wall projection and have a selection of books and magazines to flip through. They also have free WiFi if you want to get some work or studying done.
Whether you’re here for lunch or dinner, Cafe and Bar R has a great selection of dishes from around the world – we like the Spanish meatballs and Thai green curry in particular! They are the perfect size for sharing with the table, but, if you’re feeling particularly hungry, they’re great for just one, too.
